The fast ferry Ramon Llull, built in 2003, was re-engined in 2019, and the four main engines were replaced by others that improved its propulsion system. This increased its efficiency and speed while reducing both fuel consumption and NOX emissions by 20%.

The ship pays tribute to the Mallorcan writer Ramon Llull, considered one of the first writers to use a neo-Latin language to express philosophical, scientific and technical knowledge, as well as to write novels. He is credited with the invention of the compass rose and the nocturnal, a navigational instrument.
