María González: «Se percibe a Baleària como una empresa fuerte, moderna e innovadora»

En septiembre de 2022, María González Moraleda asumía el puesto de capitana del ferry Passió per Formentera. Un día feliz para Baleària, que sumaba una nueva mujer al mando, y para María, que se había incorporado 15 años antes a la compañía como auxiliar de pasaje y, mientras desarrollaba otras responsabilidades a bordo, estudió náutica, lo que le permitió pasar a ser oficial de puente hasta llegar a ser la máxima responsable del Passió per Formentera, el ferry en el que ha desarrollado la mayor parte de su trayectoria profesional. Estabilidad «Gracias a mis logros profesionales, en lo personal he conseguido tener una estabilidad y una felicidad que me llena plenamente», explica la capitana González, cuyo trabajo final de máster en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Náutica de la Universidad de Cantabria fue una guía para el trincaje en ferries de línea regular a través de la cual se busca el equilibro entre seguridad y la rapidez en la operativa. Algo primordial en el buque que manda la capitana González, ya que el Passió per Formentera enlaza varias veces al día Ceuta con Algeciras y es esencial para asegurar la conectividad aun en condiciones de mar adversas. Desde que embarcó en Baleària como auxiliar de pasaje, María González se sorprendió de la coordinación y el compañerismo a bordo para la consecución de los objetivos y, en especial, para que los embarques y desembarques se pudieran realizar con rapidez y seguridad. Sobre la evolución de Baleària, la capitana González considera que la naviera «ha crecido tanto por sus servicios, como por su implicación con el medioambiente y sobre todo porque siempre ha tenido una gran visión de mercado, expandiéndose en muy poco tiempo». Para ella todo ha pasado muy rápido: «Han sido unos años de cambios y crecimiento que he vivido con gran motivación e ilusión por seguir creciendo. Tengo muy buenos recuerdos en general, pero sobre todo cada vez que he ascendido; para mí son, sin duda alguna, mis mejores recuerdos». Compañía líder La realidad de Baleària, reflexiona María González, ha llevado a que la sociedad la perciba como una gran empresa, fuerte, moderna e innovadora. «Por ello somos líderes», recalca. Baleària, contrapone la capitana, también ha pasado por momentos duros, «pero ha sabido en todo momento mantenerse a flote y salir adelante con una gran estrategia y convertirse en la empresa líder del sector marítimo español». También reseña que los momentos más duros fueron los años de la COVID-19: «La incertidumbre de lo que pasaría nos invadía a todos». Cuando, en 2006, María González se incorporó a Baleària dejó atrás, tras una mala experiencia, un trabajo como directora comercial de una agencia de publicidad. Fue su hermana gemela, Carolina, que por aquel entonces trabaja en Buquebus como auxiliar de pasaje en el Patricia Olivia, quien le animó a embarcarse «y probar suerte en el fantástico mundo del mar». Durante el proceso de absorción de Buquebus por parte de Baleària, un día Carolina no llegó al embarque; había fallecido en un accidente de tráfico. «Ella se dirigía al barco y no llegó y yo estaba de descanso ese día. Al despertarme mi vida cambió de la noche a la mañana. Creo que en ese momento se creó un gran vínculo entre Baleària y yo», recuerda, sin ocultar su dolor, la capitana.
