Travelling with a pet in a cabin: Lana’s crossing

 

If there was one piece of news that all of us who share our lives with a pet had been eagerly awaiting, it was being able to travel with our dog in a cabin.

 

And at last, the Baleària’s new smart ships, Marie Curie and Hypatia de Alejandría, now offer us this possibility, which we had the chance to try and absolutely loved.

 

Once on board, the crew assign us a cabin designated as pet-friendly, which is exactly the same as the other cabins, with four beds, a bathroom, air conditioning and a television, but fitted with special flooring (no carpet) to ensure the highest standards of hygiene. One of the reasons we like travelling by car with Lana (and, when you live on an island, that necessarily means taking the ferry) is that we can bring all her things so she feels at home wherever we go. We set up her bed, food and water, and were able to enjoy the crossing in complete comfort without being separated from her. Dogs are not allowed in the communal areas, however.

 

 

 

 

How to book a cabin with your pet

The pet-friendly cabins are subject to availability and can be booked directly on the website under 'Upgrade your trip' during the ticket purchase process. They can accommodate up to two animals, each weighing no more than 30 kg. If an animal weighs more than 30 kg, however, only one may travel in the cabin.

During boarding and disembarkation, all animals must be kept on a lead and, where required by regulations, wear a muzzle.
