Ever since we discovered a different side of Ibiza as a family, not a day goes by without us dreaming of going back. So, to kick off summer 2021, we chose the destination again for a few peaceful days in paradise.
We once again chose to travel with Baleària, because we had such a good experience before. The spacious facilities, children’s play areas and the new SmartB on-board entertainment system all help us feel comfortable and safe during the journey, especially when travelling with a two-year-old who needs to have fun and run around all the time!

What’s more, aboard the new Eleanor Roosevelt we can reach Ibiza from Dénia in just two hours, which is a real bonus when travelling with young children. But what we love most about this ship is that it is the most sustainable fast ferry in the Mediterranean, powered by natural gas. This means a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions, as well as less noise pollution and fewer vibrations. Great news for marine wildlife and for our planet.
For us, travelling sustainably is essential nowadays, and we always look for options that help reduce our footprint on the world. So we encourage you to take that step and travel responsibly to preserve our most precious treasure: the Earth.

Here are a few tips for travelling sustainably to Ibiza:
-
Travel in low or shoulder season. As well as helping to prevent overcrowding and damage to natural areas, travelling outside peak season has major advantages: it is usually cheaper and you can enjoy popular places almost all to yourself.
-
Shop at local businesses. To help preserve the island’s heritage and support Ibiza’s economy, choose genuinely local products. The islanders will thank you.
-
Avoid using plastic. The less we use, the less waste will end up in the sea. Look for alternatives such as reusable bags and bottles, and choose packaging made from environmentally friendly materials.
-
If you go to the beach or a natural area, leave it as you found it (or better). Please, do not leave any rubbish behind and make sure you have collected all your belongings before you go. Anything you forget on the beach could end up in the sea and cause serious harm to fish.
-
Eat local food. Find out which dishes are typical and which restaurants are traditional, or shop at local supermarkets and cook for yourself.
-
Travel with Baleària on its gas-powered ferries. They reduce sulphur and particulate emissions by 100%, as well as cutting CO2 emissions.
