NEW HEALTH SAFETY CONTROLS FOR PASSENGERS FROM ABROAD

1.- All passengers from the Kingdom of Morocco who intend to enter Spain must have had a negative SARS-CoV-2 Diagnostic Test for Active Infections carried out within 72 hours prior to their arrival in Spain. According to the Resolution of 9 December 2020 of the Directorate General of Public Health, in relation to the health controls to be carried out at points of entry into Spain, in addition to the PCR, the so-called TMA (not the same as the antigen test) will also be accepted.

2.- Children under 6 years of age are exempt from performing these tests.

3.- As part of the documentary control, the passenger will be asked to provide proof of the result for the SARS-CoV-2 test (COVID-19 RT-PCR). The supporting document must be the original, written in Spanish, English, French and/or German and may be presented in paper or electronic format. The document must contain at least the following information:

  • Traveller's name
  • Passport or national identity card number (which must match that used on the Health Check Form),
  • Date on which the test was carried out,
  • Identification and contact details of the centre that carried out the analysis,
  • Technique used and negative test result.

Until their use has been approved in the European Union, other diagnostic tests such as rapid antibody tests, rapid antigen detection tests or high throughput serologies (ELISA, CLIA, ECLIA) will not be accepted.

Likewise Baleària is continuing to carry out health controls before allowing entry in the country. These controls could include temperature controls, document checks and a visual inspection of the passenger's condition.

4.- Temperature checks will be carried out routinely with the aim of identifying passengers with a fever. The established detection limit is a temperature equal to or above 37.5 ºC. Temperatures must be taken using non-contact thermometers or thermographic cameras. Neither personal data nor the images captured by thermographic cameras will be kept, and passengers' privacy must be guaranteed at all times. Any passengers with a temperature above 37.5ºC or those who, on the basis of the information contained in the public health form, or after a visual check, are suspected of suffering from COVID-19 or another communicable disease, will be subject to a new health assessment to determine whether there is a suspected risk to public health. This secondary check will include a new temperature control and an assessment of the passenger's clinical and epidemiological status. If the new health assessment confirms the suspicion that the passenger has an illness that may present a risk to public health, the health alert protocols established in coordination with the health authorities of the autonomous communities will be activated for the passenger's referral to a health centre. To do this, the health authority may request the cooperation of other agencies involved.

5.- For document control, when a traveller journeys via the sea, although the computer system is enabled for this mode, or when in exceptional cases it has not been possible to complete the Health Control Form electronically, the form must be presented on arrival in Spain on paper, in A4 format. It must be completed on both sides as shown for downloading here.

6.- On board the vessels, the Baleària crew will distribute a form for passengers to fill out. You can view the form here

7.- In the case of residents of Spain, a valid residence certificate will be required.  Passengers will be able to board when their residence has expired in the following circumstances:

  • If the expiration date of your residence card was up to 90 calendar days after the declaration of the State of Alarm, on 16 March, 2020, you may travel up to 6 months after the end of the State of Alarm.
  • If the expiration date of your residence card fell between 16 March 2020 and 21 June 2020, you will be able to travel up to 6 months after the end of the State of Alarm.
  • If your residence card expired after the State of Alarm, since residence cards have a 3-month deadline for renewal once they have expired, it will be possible to enter Spain if that deadline has not passed and you have a type C visa.
  • Without a residence card, it will be necessary to complete the prior consular procedures.
