On-board services
What types of accommodation are available on the ships, and what are the differences?
Most Baleària ships have two types of lounge seat accommodation: Standard and Superior: zones for the exclusive use of passengers with this accommodation class. In some cases the ships also have Lobby Bar accommodation located in the communal areas of the ship. Some of the ferries have cabins. The ships sailing the Ibiza-Formentera route only have Standard lounge seats.
Can I go out onto the outer deck during the crossing?
This depends on the ship you are travelling on. On high-speed vessels, for reasons of safety passengers may not access the outer deck during the crossing (although this is possible while the ship is moored in port or is sailing at a low speed while manoeuvring into and out of port). On all other ships you are free to stroll around the outer decks, which on some ships have a bar, sun loungers and other services.
Can I continue relaxing in my cabin once the ship has arrived at the destination port?
If you are travelling on a Balearic Islands route arriving before 06:30 in the morning, you can request the Disembark Later service when you book, allowing you to continue relaxing in your cabin after the ship has arrived at its destination.
Can I use my mobile phone during the crossing?
Yes, provided you have a signal, as mobile telephone calls do not interfere with the navigation equipment. You can ask for mobile phone chargers at reception on all ships.
Is Internet connection available on board? And plug sockets?
Yes. The ferries Martín i Soler, Abel Matutes, Alhucemas, Passió per Formentera and Poeta López Anglada have a satellite Internet connection which can be paid for at reception on board the ship or by PayPal. The rates are: €1/15 minutes, €2/40 minutes and €3/60 minutes. The ferry Posidonia has a free Wi-Fi connection. There are also plug sockets in the lounges on board the ships for use by passengers, and some ships have mobile phone chargers which can be requested at reception.
Which are the cabin facilities?
Although this varies slightly depending on the ship, they are normally for up to 4 people, have a fully fitted bathroom with shower, air conditioning, wardrobes, table and chairs. Some of them also have an anti-allergy cleaning system. Adapted cabins for people with reduced mobility are available. You can pay a supplement when you book to be assigned an outside cabin.
What type of food will I find in the on-board restaurants?
These are self-service restaurants serving a range of menus: full menu, single dish, children's, vegetarian and coeliac-friendly meals.
What leisure services are available on board?
All ships feature a programme of audiovisual entertainment and the Baleària Magazine. On some ships you can use the Internet, and ask for board games or access the games and amusements areas. On ferries with furnished outer decks, some of these have a bar and a swimming pool (open only in the summer). In summer we offer the Baleària Fun&Music programme, including concerts and parties, magic and comedy shows, children's entertainment workshops, beauty centre and massages, etc.
Are there any benefits to purchasing on-board services in advance?
If you purchase certain on-board services before you travel (via the website or at the ticket office), you may have access to discounts and other benefits thanks to a voucher which can be exchanged on board. Remember that catering services can be up to the point of departure, while beauty services and the choice of outside cabin must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
Can I pay by card on board?
Although you can do, we recommend that you have cash on you, as we cannot always guarantee credit card payments because of connection problems during the crossing.
Is smoking allowed on the ships?
In accordance with national smoking legislation, smoking is not permitted inside the ships or on any of the company's premises on land.
